"UNICEF": Closure of around 21 malnutrition treatment centers in Gaza due to the resumption of aggression

The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Kazem Abu Khalaf, announced on Sunday the closure of around 21 malnutrition treatment centers in Gaza due to the renewed aggression by the Israeli occupation and the issuance of evacuation orders in the operational areas.

In press statements, he explained that UNICEF is awaiting the release of a report from the authority responsible for food security classification in the Gaza Strip, in order to present the findings.

He pointed out that the occupation continues to keep the crossings with Gaza closed, preventing the entry of aid, medical supplies, nutritional supplements, and other essentials for the past 35 days.

It is worth noting that UNICEF stated yesterday that over one million children in Gaza have been deprived of life-saving aid for more than a month, stressing that the continued blockade on aid entry into Gaza constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law, with dire consequences for children.

UNICEF also confirmed that it has thousands of aid parcels waiting for entry into the Gaza Strip and emphasized the urgent need for immediate access. It noted that complementary foods for infants in Gaza have run out, and the remaining ready-to-use infant formula is only sufficient for 400 children for one month.
