Israel: A Complex Reality and Ongoing Pain for the Palestinian People

Israeli media reports have stated that the released female and male prisoners need a long period of time to recover their physical and mental health after enduring prolonged imprisonment and torture. The harsh experiences they went through behind the prison walls have left deep scars on their lives, both physically and mentally. It is crucial to provide a range of medical and psychological services for them, including long-term rehabilitation to restore their well-being comprehensively, along with continuous psychological support. This includes helping them overcome psychological trauma and dealing with the mental health impacts resulting from their time in captivity, as well as providing specialized programs to rebuild their self-confidence and reintegrate them into society. Reintegrating them into daily life and creating a supportive and safe environment are essential steps in helping them recover and rebuild their lives, which requires coordination with government entities and civil society to ensure sustainable support.

But the opposite is true of what Israel says ...

Israeli prisoners are in good health and have not been subjected to any harm, this indicates a significant disparity in the treatment of prisoners between the two sides. Many Palestinian prisoners suffer from harsh conditions, including physical and psychological torture, as well as medical neglect. In this context, if there is better treatment for Israeli prisoners, it could serve as a source of international pressure to call for the improvement of Palestinian prisoners' conditions and the protection of their basic rights. Humanitarian values should guide the treatment of all prisoners with dignity and respect, regardless of their affiliation, and human rights issues should be addressed fairly and equitably.
