Yesterday, they departed carrying their cameras and pens, risking everything to deliver the truth. The entire Al Jazeera journalistic team in Gaza was martyred while fulfilling their noble mission of documenting the suffering of our people:
Anas Al-Sharif
Mohammed Qreiqa
Mohammed Noufal
Ibrahim Zaher
Moamen Alweha
Mohammed Al-Khalidi
These heroes paid with their lives for press freedom and the world's right to know, yet the Israeli occupation targeted them cold-bloodedly, trying to silence the voice of truth.
As of today, the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 238 since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Article 79 of the 1977 Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions:
"Journalists are civilians and must be protected, as they carry a humanitarian message despite all risks."
We will never forget the martyrs of the word, and we will continue to tell the truth despite attempts of repression and terror.
