A Child’s Unbreakable Bond: Sleeping on His Martyred Mother’s Grave to Feel Her Embrace

Activist Saleh Al-Ja'frawi documented a moving moment of a young boy sleeping atop his mother’s grave in southern Gaza. He asked the boy, “Why are you sleeping here?” The young child replied, “I want to sleep in her arms.”

Al-Ja'frawi then spoke to the child’s father, who explained, “My wife suffered from a kidney illness and was martyred during an attack by Israeli forces on the Al-Nuseirat area. Since that time, my son goes to the cemetery every day, lies on her grave, and falls asleep.”
