Haaretz: We Don't Have Time for Trump's Delusions-There Will Be No Mass Forcible Denial and Transfer from Gaza

Building hotels instead of nuclear missiles. Since his election, he has also talked about invading Panama, seizing Greenland, and annexing Canada. We are of an age that allows us to remember how he once discussed annexing the West Bank to Israel in a meeting with Netanyahu. Reiklin danced with the Israeli flag outside the White House, and Oritz tweeted, "Implement sovereignty by Sunday." Many Sundays have passed since then.

Taking Trump’s claims seriously is an insult to the intellect; he is mentally ill, and we are living in an era of gradual regression. Netanyahu may be mentally ill without a conscience, but he is not stupid. He even froze uncomfortably when Trump mixed up his opinion with the idea of evacuating Gaza as he pleased, due to the embarrassing nonsense Netanyahu showered him with. As Levi Eshkol once said, "No one has ever been slapped for flattery."

And when the regular trips of Netanyahu's family and entourage to the United States disappear, including, of course, the unavoidable weekend at the luxurious Wyler Continental Hotel (120 rooms), reality will remain. Like the familiar hangover that returns after a night of debauchery. It is sad to see many Israeli media outlets collaborate with this nonsense, with discussions like the seventh-grade social studies share, and transfer—pro or against. Even before considering the ethical side, it primarily reflects superficiality and laziness. It is an idea that is very easy to implement, and this is what Trump and Netanyahu truly excel at: the constant bombardment with empty talk about things that will never happen.
