Arab 48 Website - West Bank: On workers' issues, the rising cost of living, and the struggle for basic sustenance.

Since October 7, 2023, the West Bank has been facing a severe economic crisis, worsened by the occupation's prevention of thousands of workers from working inside the Green Line, leading to increased unemployment and the collapse of income sources. At the same time, Palestinian cities and refugee camps have witnessed an increase in incursions by the Israeli army, alongside repeated attacks by settlers.

As Ramadan approaches, Palestinian territories in the West Bank continue to suffer from the consequences of the occupation's policies, which have persisted for nearly a year and a half amidst the ongoing genocide against Gaza. Before October 7, 2023, the cities and villages of the West Bank were subjected to almost daily incursions by the Israeli army, either to carry out operations to eliminate or arrest resistance fighters or to demolish homes. Meanwhile, settler attacks on Palestinian villages increased, involving the destruction of property, public facilities, and threatening farmers by uprooting trees and crops, which has pushed many Palestinians in cities of northern West Bank, such as Jenin, Nablus, and Tulkarm, to resort to armed resistance against the occupation.
